Tested on 4.1.1 (Steam), 4.2 Alpha

Repro:

  1. Start a new scene in Blender
  2. Attach a geometry node group from another file
  3. Select the default cube > Modifier Stack > Add Modifier - The attached node group is not visible anywhere in the modifier list

This can be fixed in 4.2 by adding a geometry node modifier and assigning the attached node group to the geometry nodes field. This doesn't work in 4.1.1.
