SIMPLY TRIED TO IMPORT SVG FILE INTO BLENDER, NO MATTER WHERE THE FILE WAS SOURCED I RECEIVED THE SAME ERROR. I EVEN TRIED TO FOLLOW A YOUTUBE TUTORIAL BUT NONE OF THE STEPS WOULD WORK.

PLEASE DO NOT WRITE IN CAPITALS, this is painful (as if you were shouting…).
Campbell, think you known about svg importer?
@pjamesiii also, might be that you're using an old version of svg importer, please check your 'user' blender dir to be sure you do not have an old copy of it there.

Pardon the CAPS, not yelling just wanted to ensure that my comments were differentiated from the rest of the correspondence.
Anyway, the below files are what I received in the .zip file:

I can't locate a svg importer. I noticed that my hash is different from zeauro (ronan ducluzeau) but they may be due to the fact that he is using LINUX and I am using a MAC. What is the procedure for checking the SVG importer version? What is the procedure for upgrading/downgrading? Should I load the previous blender release?
look in blenderfolder /2.73/scripts/addons/io_curve_svg
to make shure you have the newest version download these 3 files into the foler (click RAW)
In the User Preferences shuld the addon ##Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) 1.1 format## be enabled (with the Blender Icon near the check box)

Yeah , .svg seems unsupported on OSX, dunno why.
Was it ever ?
Anyway, can simply activate ....
Edit: the import to 3Dview is working fine, guess you meant only this ?
What is not enabled is loading the .svg format directly.
I think it's fine as is, no ?
Jens
@pjamesiii, please don't paste entire script files in the tracker. removed the reply, but rather not do this.
@ideasman42, no problem. I thought it would be helpful specifically knowing what was in the package loaded on my system. Has the code been updated to activate the svg file handling? If so, has it been released for public consumption or should I modify the script file on my system to correct the issue that I am having?
Hello, has this issue been resolved?
@pjamesiii as far as we know, issue relies on your machine (or installation of Blender).
Please wipe out your current blender install, re-download it, and re-install it. Also, ensure you do not have some (old) addons hanging around in blender config in your user folder.
