that is pretty specific
@JacobMerrill-1 Not specific enough to reproduce. The referenced commit is the release version of 2.83.2, it doesn't reference a particular commit that introduced a change. I've tried to reproduce the issue and the add-on activates without problems in 2.83.2. From the description I cannot tell what the precise steps were that led to the issue nor what specific exception this resulted in.

I thought that the hash was a commit, not a release*
@JacobMerrill-1 Yes the hash references a commit, in this case that specific commit was used to create the release of Blender 2.83.2. It's not a commit hash of a development/alpha/beta version.
