Addon works as expected in 3.0.1
In 3.1, once you sync the sun to texture or bind the texture to the sun, rotating the sun rotates only the sun (shadows) )and not the HDRI.

I would love to see it fixed, this is a minor problem but impact HDRI workflow experience quite profoundly.

The workaround I have found under 3.1.0:

  • in Sun + HDR Texture mode;
  • once you aligned and bind the sun position;
  • rotation as usual (the sun will rotate but the environment texture won't)
  • click somewhere like outliner or viewport so you trigger a history change
  • save the scene
  • then Ctrl + Z to undo, now both sun and environment texture is aligned.
  • save the scene again.

Quick Note: tested Blender 3.1.2, this appear to be fixed, even though Sun Position add-on hasn't changed, probably due to some internal API fixes.

Bug wasn't related to add-on. There was missing viewport update which is already fixed by blender/blender@87a0770bb9
