Short description of error
I was importing a backup file when i made a mistake and found the shapekeys that are relative to other shapekeys were distorted. This only happens when importing

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open attached file or
    • Create or open a complex mesh
    • Create 2 different shapekeys that are completely different in appearance, the first being the basis, and change the appearance of the second in edit mode
    • Select second shapekey, open the tiny V menu on the right of the window and click New shapekey from mix
    • In edit mode, change the appearance of the third new shapekey just enough that it is still similar to the second but totally different from the first
    • While still selecting the third shapekey, change the selected shapekey under 'relative to' to the second shapekey that you duplicated it from
  • save and export the file as an FBX. (This is the primary file i have been using. i cannot account for the others.)
  • reimport the file you just exported and move the object file alongside its original to compare
  • view the third shapekey on both objects and you will notice they are not at all identical
