System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 527.56
Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.4.0, branch: blender-v3.4-release, commit date: 2022-12-06 18:46, hash:
blender/blender@a95bf1ac01
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
When attempting to select several thousand objects using the Select Box tool, I cannot select them.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Start a new file, duplicate or array a cube 5000+ times, drag select the entire set of cubes. The output window will state "Too many objects in select buffer" and no selection will occur with no error notice on screen.
If the error does not occur, delete several thousand then duplicate a few thousand more before trying again. The selection lasso is always capable of handling but is a far slower tool to use.

This is a limitation of GL depth picking. If you want to be able to select, select a different method in your user preferences.
I expected a better description of this limitation as this case isn't described well.
