System Information
Operating system: macOS-12.6-arm64-arm-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Apple M1 Pro Apple 4.1 Metal - 76.3

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.3.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-09-06 15:39, hash: 0759f671ce
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When trying to render more complex scenes with the GPU using Metal, it shows me the error "CommandBuffer Failed: cycles_metal_integrator_reset" it works fine with less complex scenes and the error disappears when utilizing only the CPU.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • open larger complicated file
  • select Metal in Cycles Rendering Devices
  • select either GPU and CPU or only CPU
  • a little while after it shows Sampling 0/10000 it gives out the error and stops rendering

It looks like the same problem as described in #97065 (render hangs on cycle - M1).
There it was mentioned that after upgrading the MacOS version the problem was solved.

However the version reported here is recent (12.6). So that shouldn't be the only issue.

Can you try to simplify the file and identify what could really be causing this problem?

Normally .blend files can be simplified by removing most objects and disabling settings, until the problem reveals itself more clearly.

Hey! Blender 3.6. MBP 16 gb. Scene I've just modeled, renders fine in 3.5 version, same as viewport render view. On 3.6 stuck on loading kernels and nothing happens.. can't get back to any other viewport, blender need to be shut.. In 3.6 if i go to CPU, then it's ok, on 3.5 does't matter if its cpu or gpu.. !3.6.1 same issues. Tried also simplify and other recommended tricks. Nothing helps
