System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19043-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 600 Intel 4.5.0 - Build 27.20.100.8729
Blender Version
Broken: 3.4, 3.3, ... 2.8
Worked: never
Short description of error
When I select certain nodes from the materials tab after pressing undo on the last node change, blender crashes. But only if the last click is made with my wired USB mouse. Or even if the cursor was left on the button to switch tabs before clicking with the touchpad.
Blenders: 3.4, 3.2, 3.0, 2.9, 2.83
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
1: Open blender to the default startup file.
2: Go to the materials tab.
3: Click on the button next to "Surface" labeled "Principled BSDF" and select a different node to switch it out.
4: Press Ctrl + Z on the keyboard to undo the previous action.
5: Repeat steps 3 and 4 with various nodes until it crashes.
(There used to be a more consistent way of replicating this, making a mix shader, putting a glossy bsdf node in the top slot, then pressing undo and selecting an emission node instead, but it stopped crashing with that just before I sent this.
. . . And it just started crashing with that again. I'm sorry I can't give you something more consistent.)
Based on the default startup file.

Thank you for report this.
First the described steps seemed to me similar to
#101781
, but in there was no stack and in the end no one could confirm this.So it's just another problem.
I was able to confirm this by removing the standard node and then adding volume.
My blenders: 3.4, 3.2, 3.0, 2.9, 2.83, ...
It looks like just the lack of blocking during a long creation of a node and undo.
blender.crash.txt
(Didn't notice that file was overwriting all the time)
I was thinking about adding a core module because of the undo system, but I'm not sure if undo is needed here. It seemed to me that just a quick switch is enough.
More accurately checked. This is caused when canceling and creating/deleting a node at the same time (window per second especially for complex nodes like the volume shader, although this may just be a coincidence)
Crash on switching material nodes with wired USB mouse.to Nodes: Assert and crash: Editing nodes through the material panel and undo.I added to your report what I could find by bug. But apparently, all stack traces are only symptoms of the problem.
