Regression: Sculpt mode shows entire mesh using only the first material #102067

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19043-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 516.59

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.4.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2022-10-24 19:44, hash: 5d5e0f1b0e
Worked: 3.3.1, 3.3.2 Release Candidate

Short description of error
When in sculpt mode, the viewport shows the mesh as if every polygon was assigned to the first material of the mesh. Both Eevee rendering and Workbench rendering (with Color set to Material) are affected whereas Cycles works as expected. My guess would be that this relates to https://developer.blender.org/rBf1c0249f34c417

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
The attached .blend file (authored in 3.3.1) has a cube in sculpt mode with a linked duplicate in the scene next to it. The cube's polygons are assigned to only the yellow (second) and red (third) materials of the mesh. In 3.4.0 Alpha, the cube in sculpt mode shows in the viewport entirely blue (the first material), whereas in 3.3.x, the cube in sculpt mode shows the yellow and red materials as expected.
Open the .blend in 3.3.x and 3.4.0 Alpha to compare.
The materials have been set up such that their Viewport Display Color (Material.diffuse_color) is the same as the Base Color of their Principled BSDF nodes so that Workbench/Solid Viewport Shading can also show the issue.
The viewport of the .blend as opened in each version:

The commit in the report doesn't seem to be the cause. So I will bisect.

Sculpt mode is too messy to bisect in that area, so I can only give a range. The first bad commit is somewhere between a790873d2a (good) and ec8118a59e (bad).
Most likely 65900d88a8.

Okay, I fixed this for normal and multires meshes, but not DynTopo.
