The entire UI becomes unresponsive after the second rendering, no matter the renderer engine of choice.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open blender - render the stage (even the default one) - First time it will work, then try to re-render again, the rendering window becomes stuck, UI is not responsive.
If left alone for a few minutes, it will unfreeze, but then again after trying a new render, it will still freeze.
In 2.90.0 Beta it all works properly.

Yes, it is the default cube, if I can dig more, let me know what I should provide
Just tried
blender-3.4.0-linux-x64
and it behaves the sameMaybe of any use, went ahead and actually tested all blender official bundles, these are actually downloaded from here https://download.blender.org/release/
All of them fail to render the second time and freeze.
Now, what works
Hopefully of any help.
Interesting... Since this is default startup file, I assume you render with eevee, not cycles. But if you have changed renderer and saved default file, check if you have enabled Performance > Persistent Data.
I thik, you may check if clicking on File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings would help.
