System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 522.33

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.5.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2022-12-14 07:22, hash: 8930395912
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
The frame range start and end edit boxes are greyed out. But are needed to adjust the start and end range.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
[Please describe the exact steps needed to reproduce the issue]
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

  • Create an animation with at least two keyframes and different positions of the object
  • Switch to the Object properties tab in the Properties editor
  • In Motion Paths panel click at Calculate to calculate the path
  • Adjust the range with paths type Range in the Frame Range start and end edit boxes.
  • Notice that this edit boxes are greyed out.

Grayed out in d72c7eefd1.
Apparently these values should only be used in manual Calculation Range mode.

This is intentional. The range that you set like this will be reset to the scene frame range as soon as the motion path is updated (with the {nav Update Path} button). If you want to retain the range, set it to Manual Frame Range.

I'll keep this task open as a reminder for myself to document this better in the release notes.

I've updated both the release notes and the manual.
