System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22000-SP0 64 Bits <-This is the string Blender's Report Bug functionality provided, but actually, I'm on Windows 11 21H2. Another bug?
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 527.56

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.4.1, branch: blender-v3.4-release, commit date: 2022-12-20 08:50, hash: ef9ca44dee
Worked: 3.3.2

Caused by b247588dc0

Short description of error
Subsurf Vertex crease functionality doesn't work after instancing/realizing instances.
Also, while preparing a file for this report, I tried to use the old mesh trick for Vertex crease and discovered a CTD on extrude.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open attached blend
  2. Note Vertices are not being creased.
  3. Press E to crash blender.

Attaching logs:

The vertices not being creases is a known limitation. As for the crash, I can reproduce it myself.

Please open Blender's installation directory and double click on the blender_debug_gpu.cmd. This will start Blender in debug mode and create log files. Try to reproduce the error again. Once it crashes or you close Blender manually the Windows Explorer should open and show you up to two files, a debug log and the system information. Add them to your bug report by clicking on the upload button as shown in the screenshot below or via drag and drop. Please also upload the crash log located in C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\Temp\[project name].crash.txt (or simply type %TEMP% into the path bar of the Windows Explorer).2019_12_04_upload_icon_developer_blender_org.png

Doesnt crash in 3.3.2

Doesnt crash in 3.3.2

Sure thing. Logs added. And indeed, can confirm it doesn't crash with 3.3.

It seems the crash happens in GPU subdivision code. Is this related to instancing or Geometry Nodes specifically or can you reproduce the crash without the Geometry Nodes modifier?

It does not crash without the Geonodes modifier.

It also does not crash if I turn off the modifier, make the extrude, then turn it on again. It only crashes if you press E in edit mode with the modifier turned on.
