I not sure if i can confirm this, my blender just be freeze and stop responding
Well, you can confirm that's it not working ;)
Can you provide any logs caused by your freeze and maybe your system specs could be also helpful.
Without logs

I am personally unable to reproduce this issue on my system. Maybe the issue was fixed between the version you used and the one I used? Can you test again with the latest alpha release?
If you continue to experience issues, it might be worth getting @pmoursnv to look into this.

I just tested
3.5.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2023-01-30 00:00, hash:

Still crashing.
Maybe it's GPU related?
What we have so far is:
I got today a 4090.
OSL GPU is working with the new card, with the same Blender build I tested it with my old 2080ti.
So I guess it is a generation issue.
@pmoursnv
Tried on different Turing, Ampere and Ada GPUs and was not able to reproduce a crash. I did however see a crash when multiple GPUs were enabled for rendering, which is fixed now, but it's not clear from the description whether that was attempted here or not.
Yes, I had a multi-GPU setup (2x 2080ti) before I upgraded today to 1x 4090.
I think I tested it without the "distribute memory" option, but not with disabling one GPU.
I guess that caused the crash. Good catch! Thank you for providing a bugfix.
After I can't any longer test it (no longer a multi GPU system) I consider this issue as fixed.

This happens to me with a 1080. I assume it is indeed a generation issue but if you are sloppy and accidentally click OSL while in Cycle GPU your blender will crash which is no bueno. I believe we should hide the option on ancient cards. I can test further.
This happens on 3.5 and 3.6 beta and happened on all previous versions that allowed for OSL on GPU Compute
