The File Output compositing node has poorly divided space for the file path #105107

Sorry if the title is a bit confusing, I didn't know how else to put it.

Basically, the File Output node has a 50/50 visual division between output file paths and formats, which forces you to scale the node quite a lot to read the full file path, even though the file format "column" doesn't need so much space.

I've attached a video which shows what I'm talking about, but here's a screenshot:

(the red line shows where the division is)

My suggestion is that the file format column (on the right) is changed to only take up the necessary space and leave the rest to the file path column (left), something like this:

Hello. Actually, using text-align on the other side of the node sounds reasonable in this example. But not sure what and how it can be done. Also: is this a bug report? Offer? Task? Have you asked one of the developers about this to add?

I also looked around but couldn't figure out where the node layout is defined.

Also: is this a bug report? Offer? Task?

I'd say it's just an improvement. Nothing is really broken, just could look better.

Have you asked one of the developers about this to add?

I have not, I thought creating an issue here would be enough.

  • For now, this is a report that contains a feature request and will be closed.
  • If any of the developer agree with this, then it will be TODO. Whoever will make it.
  • If you want to do this, I can tell you where to look.

ah, my bad.

If you want to do this, I can tell you where to look.

I'm willing to try but I'm not sure if I'll be able to compile Blender on my machine. Please let me know either way.
