When importing Einar v1 from Blenderstudio the rig is borked #105511

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19044-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 528.24

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.5.0 Beta, branch: blender-v3.5-release, commit date: 2023-03-05 00:39, hash: 1b815678aa10
Worked: blender-3.5.0-alpha+master.b6b6e47e1dbc-windows.amd64-release

Short description of error
When importing Einar v1 from Blender Studio the rig is broken

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

To reproduce the error, you can just follow the instructions that come with Einar fom the Blender Studio page. If you follow these steps in the current beta (see above) the rig will not work as you would expect it to (f.e the FK head bone pivots completely about the wrong pivot point) But when you follow the exact same steps in the alpha from above (link from file, override library etc) the rig will work as you'd expect it to. So something appears to be wrong or at least different in importing between these two versions.
So either the posted Einar-file is wrong, because it was based on one of the alpha versions, or the file is correct, but the current beta doesn't import it correctly.

Think we need a bit more info in regards to the reproduction steps.

f.e the FK head bone pivots completely about the wrong pivot point

What I tried here is

  • select FK-head bone
  • rotate it

this seems identical in b6b6e47e1d and current 3.5

But I could completely misuse the rig, for this to be clarified, could you explain in more steps what needsa to be done to repro? Or could you possibly attach a video that shows the misbehavior (compared to the correct behavior)?

You're definitely right that in the two examples you show me, the behavior is identical.
In the beta I tested it in (see above) the results were not identical.
I'll redo the steps again in those versions and see if I can make it clearer.
Then I'll load it in the current beta and see if it has changed since

Oh god, I'm really really sorry. I found where I went wrong.

When trying this, I downloaded the original file from here
https://studio.blender.org/characters/einar/v1/
Now I completely overlooked that when loaded the Transform Pivot Point setting in this file is 3D cursor - the 3D cursor display has been turned off in the 'show overlays' menu of that file as well. I was so enthousiastic about playing with the rig, that I foolishly thought that the file would be 'animation ready'from the moment of loading. So as soon as I turned the Transform Pivot Point back to anything but 3D cursor, the rig worked just fine.

Again I apologize for sending you on a wild goose chase like this. I thought I had double checked everything, but I completely overlooked this setting.
