System Information
Operating system: Linux-6.2.8-1293.native-x86_64-with-glibc2.37 64 Bits
Graphics card: Mesa Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (IVB GT2) Intel 4.2 (Core Profile) Mesa 23.1.0-devel

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.5.0, branch: blender-v3.5-release, commit date: 2023-03-29 02:56, hash: 1be25cfff18b
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Fresh Blender 3.5 starts in lower right quadrant of the screen on Wayland and does not listen to mouse clicks.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I deleted the complete ~/.config/blender directory to start fresh with the new 3.5 release. Blender starts up only in the lower right quadrant of the screen, at this moment the mouse can be used to click the menu items visible in the lower right quadrant of the screen.

Drag the Blender main window to the upper left part of the screen, have it snap into place and then mouseclicks will no longer be reacted upon. The keyboard works, pressing Ctrl - q for example will quit Blender like it should.

When opening Blender right after that, the main Blender window will be opened in its correct place and mouse clicks will be reacted to, it is only the initial launch with no config files present, like installing a computer fresh... Can reproduce this problem myself, on two different machines.

Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Hi, thanks for the report. This graphics card has the Ivy Bridge architecture: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Graphics_Technology
Haswell architecture and newer architecture is required for Blender 2.90+ as stated in Minimum requirements page.

That said your system is below the minimum requirements to run blender.

Also: your hardware probably supports OpenGL 4.0 or 4.2 but minimum requirement is 4.3.

Well @PratikPB2123, you might want to re-open this issue again, for I have the exact same problem on another Fedora Linux machine, this time with an Intel UHD Graphics 630 integrated GPU, which I believe is still supported...?

Hi, does this persist in 3.6-beta?: https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/

BTW, do you get similar output as shown in #109194? (#109194 is bit different though. Different window scaling is causing that issue)

I tried a 3.6 Release Candidate today and that did not exhibit the problem, when it did in the past, it would show the normal main Blender window, with its upper left corner starting exactly in the middle of the screen with everything moved to the lower right quadrant of the screen, probably extending beyond what the monitor shows.

A possible solution is, when using a mouse does get honoured, is to click the "Window" - menu and select the "Toggle Window Fullscreen" - option and save the default scene right away

Thanks.

Can we close the report in that case? (3.5 is archived now and it won't receive any further bug fixes)
