System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19044-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 516.94

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.0 Alpha, branch: geometry-nodes-simulation, commit date: 2023-04-05 16:28, hash: c6d8da0e97c6
Also broken in 3.5 stable version!
Worked: This feature is new as of 3.5 and I'm seeing the behavior in both.

Short description of error
Assets from other files are not visible when asset browser preference is set to "All" (when assets are part of catalogs)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Extract uploaded file
  • Open general blend file
  • Set it as asset library path
  • Open asset browser and set preference to "All' [notice every asset is visible (i.e. engine parts and sculpted sphere)
  • Now open open-file.blend
  • In asset browser, set preference to "All" (notice engine assets are missing)
If switched to "user library" then engine assets are visible

Hi, thanks for the report. I'm not able to repro this in 3.6.

Broken: version: 3.6.0 Alpha, branch: geometry-nodes-simulation

Could you check again in master branch build?: https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/

I am still seeing his behavior where some items aren't showing up in "All" using the daily build if 3.6 from yesterday. I'm not sure how to provide a simple test case, but I'll see if I can figure out a good way to create a test case that misbehaves for me.

I tried to create a sample setup that repeats the issue, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. But, I'm going to try to add some images that might make the issue I'm seeing more clear.

Here is a list of my asset browsers in the Drop-Down:
image

Here, if I choose my main asset browser option, you can see that there are two items under "Abstract":

And now, I change the drop-down to "All", but still select "Abstract" for the category, and there's nothing there:

If I choose a category that has items from either the currently opened file, or from a different asset browser from the one the current file is saved inside, I can see those items, but nothing from other files within the asset browser that my current file is saved inside.

I have tried removing the asset browsers from the Preferences, and then re-adding them. That didn't change anything. I tried to create a minimal set of two asset browsers with a single file each, but that case didn't misbehave, so I'm not quite sure how to make this replicable.

Oh... important note: The "All" category works correctly in a newly-created file. If it is saved, closed, then opened, it stops working.

I will upload the system-info.txt for the version I used to test today.

Managed to repro from scratch. I'll update the description to match with the issue.
