Cycles: Keyframing motion blur shutter value fails to apply it properly when generating animation #107162

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: Nvidia RTX 3090

Blender Version
Broken: 3.6, 4.0

Short description of error

If we keyframe shutter property of motion blur, the updated shutter value is not considered during the final render.
Suppose shutter value is 0 at the start of render, it will remain 0 thorught the animation even if we've keyframed the value.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open attached file
  • select cycles render Engine
  • Start animation render (Ctrl-F12)

somebody just told me that keyframing motion blur is not allowed in Blender? if this is the case, then this is a UX bug, because I should then not be allowed to keyframe the shutter parameter, but Blender allows me to do it, to keyframe the shutter parameter and if motion blur cannot be keyframed then this should not be allowed I suppose

actually they just clarified for me that its not allowed in Eevee but yes in Cycles, and I am using Cycles Render so then it should indeed work

Hi, thanks for the report. Could you share .blend file you've been using?

dear Pratik, I cannot as its a complex work related file that Im not allowed to share, but its super easy to reproduce, will try to put together any simple file with the related issue and will post it here, best :)

ok, thanks for letting me know. meanwhile, I'll try to reproduce it locally :)

thank you :) should be easy, Ive been told in the last 24 hours that it is a known issue, at least according to some people, that motion blur cannot be keyframed in blender (Im using cycles), but then this would be a UI or UX bug, as in that case it doesnt make sense that I am allowed to keyframe the shutter parameter

Indeed I can confirm. Shutter value remains same during complete animation render.

@javismiles hi, I've uploaded the file and simplified the report description.
This maybe a known issue but I did not find any relevant old report.
