System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 528.49

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.5.1, branch: blender-v3.5-release, commit date: 2023-04-24 18:11, hash: e1ccd9d4a1d3

Short description of error

  • When select button is set to Right button (like classic blender), can't access context menu in Asset browser with either right click or left click. W key will pop up the context menu.
  • When select with Left button, right click and W key are both effective in Asset browser.

Original description:

Hello. When using old-school navigation with right click selection, there is no way to access Asset's options like their deletion. Neither right click, W special menu are working. There is also no parameter in Preferences to change and assign a custom hotkey for it. The option to remove asset is not present even in the Asset Browser's main menu, neither when you perform a search. The issue was present since the birth of Asset Browser, but I thought maybe it's still in the development. But no, and since the pose library was removed recently, there is no way for me to edit wrong/temp poses and I'm basically have to deal with a bunch of junk in my list.
PS I also use some custom navigation hotkeys (LMB to orbit, Shift LMB to pan, Alt LMB to zoom), plus some other custom modeling hotkeys, but I never did any changes to File manager type of windows.

Can confirm. This seems to never have been working.

Hi, I don't think this is a bug. Even this is consistent with other editors (ex: 3D viewport)
W is assigned for context-menu when Right click is mapped for selection, see: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/src/branch/main/scripts/presets/keyconfig/keymap_data/blender_default.py#L152

        if select_mouse == 'RIGHT':
            .
            .
            .
            self.context_menu_event = {"type": 'W', "value": 'PRESS'}

Closing, feel free to reopen if there is misunderstanding from my end :)

You can still change key preference for context menu:

@PratikPB2123 I feel it could be better if we flip L/R when right click selection option is inverted?

@ChengduLittleA , left click is still used for box select (so flipping L/R may cause key conflicts)

@PratikPB2123 We could use b for box selection that way? It's also consistent with the rest of the regions

AFAICS B key is also used to invoke box select operation in asset browser.
Certainly a point of debate to decide correct key for each operations. I think key-configuration can be improved for 4.0 release (need opinion of UI module on this).

But this is not a bug really so I closed the ticket :)
Feel free to reopen though.
