System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19044-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 526.98

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.5.1 Release Candidate, branch: blender-v3.5-release, commit date: 2023-04-21 11:31, hash: 93dac7da2c6a
Worked: (unknown)

Short description of error
after tracking forward one core is running high continuously, and blender becomes unuseably sluggish until restart.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

import a 400 frame 1080p png sequence into the motion tracker (I wont upload mine, it's too much bandwidth)
place 8 markers at default settings
click detect forward
select a few of the markers in the dope sheet and lock and hide them

A single core and it's hyperthread will continue to run high endlessly making Blender unusable.

Hi @3di Do you have a minimal file that can reproduce the issue? Thanks!

Hi, no, the steps need to be carried out from a new blend file, as I notice after saving and tracking again, the issue doesn't seem to happen. So grab any short footage, then generate 400 frames of pngs for it, and bring those into the motion tracker after deleting the video from the VSE.

You can use this footage if you like. I forget now, but I may have placed the trackers using the detect features operator, so it's probably best to use that as it may be the culprit (if the modal isn't exiting). There's currently a bug where the solve camera operator also isn't ending, so it's within the realms of possibility.

oh, and also use the prefetch option to put the image sequence into RAM before tracking. That could also be the rogue operator.

@3di Will check. Does the problem only exist with PNG sequences or with the movie file as well?

Unsure, the motion tracker doesn't work well with movie files apparently, so I've never tried to track with anything but image sequences.

I don't think that would make a difference though, because it's probably most likely caused by one of the operators not terminating.
