An error happened when I adjust bevel for the second time #108279

Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Just like the title, I am new for Blender.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open my blender.
  2. Press tab into edit mode.
  3. Do some bevel to the obj.
  4. Readjust that bevel and boom.

yes, I saved it from my blender, and the screenshot was taked after reopen this file.

  1. open belender
  2. close the splash
  3. press tab to edit mode
  4. select 4 edges of the default object
  5. click the Bevel tool
  6. drag the yellow handle(ball) and scroll middle key
  7. release every key/button
  8. drag the yellow handle again, and the error ocurred

Mybe some hardware driver issue? It a stable repeatable bug in my case on my computer.

ps: C4d is working good, and all games I play are good.

Humm for me in 3.5.1 / 3.6 / 4.0 I can keep dragging the bevel handle and it will not crash the second time I drag it.

@Right-SUN The "error" you said, is it for program crashing, or geometries becoming "messy"? Looks to me it's more of a natural result of bevel operation, the depth is too far so it overstretched the geometry.

You mean you can reproduce the scene which showed in my screencapture? Is it a feature but not a bug ?

Yes, that is it.

So, this unlimited bevel is a feature not a bug ? But I've never seen any 3d software like it. They all seem to have some limitations, and we also don't need this unlimited tool

@Right-SUN In that case, you could bevel one time and turn on "Clamp Overlap", This way it will stop when the bevel reaches the limit on the geometry.
