Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 528.24
Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.5.0, branch: blender-v3.5-release, commit date: 2023-03-29 02:56, hash:

Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
If I were to render this Quixel Bridge surface asset with the Shading Tab open Blender goes completely gray and will never process the render and Blender Crashes. Then I have to shut down the program and start over. The only way to render is to render from the "solid" selection in the Layout Tab. Vram is only at 1.6/24 but Blender always crashes.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Side note: When using the displace on a Quixel material, or if adjusting a Quixel material, the materials look pixelated and blocky.
I recently built a new computer with a much stronger Graphics Card and RAM with a Ryzen 9 with Windows 11, but happens with Windows 10. Haven't had this issue before that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there, could you try the steps here in the Windows section and give us crash logs and system info files? Thanks! https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/3.6/troubleshooting/crash.html#windows
Also make sure your monitor is plugged directly into the graphics card, not the motherboard.
When it crashes the crash never completes. The render screen just goes gray and no matter how long I let it sit I always have to force quit the program to restart it. Will I still be able to use the steps above?
I've crashed it... I'll update when something different happens.
Also, I'm new to reporting a bug so I'm not sure I understand all the steps in the link.
I checked and my monitor is plugged into the GPU.
Maybe you could try downgrading your driver to a more stable version? Sometimes latest driver could cause issues.
And please use
Help->Save System Info
to give us a more detailed report of your hardware, thanks!Thank you. I have attached the system info doc. I'll have to look into a new/older driver tomorrow.
Also, not sure if this helps or if it's just me on my side but I've attached a png of what the displacement looks like rendered. I don't remember it being so splotchy and jagged before.
I was checking and the only drive available was the one for the current graphics card. This was a new build.
I was wondering if you had any insight into this situation? I'm trying to determine if it is a problem with the graphics card or with some other component.
Hopefully, I did this correctly.
From the log it really doesn't seem to be any problem. Could you try turning off windows TDR limit for graphics card and see if it makes any difference? Like this.
No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.
Thanks again for the report. If the problem persists please open a new report with the required information.
