Blender 3.6 LTS not selecting/working after install #109474

Operating system: Win 11 Pro
Graphics card: RTX 3090

Broken: (Blender 3.6 LTS)

Decided to install and try the new features of 3.6 LTS. Nothing happened after the install as usual.
When I open Blender I can't select anything, nor selecting anything from the scene selection.

Read about the problem about Python problems in https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/python.html#pythonpath tried to do that without success, because when I try to put that text in the script window, the window crashes *uploaded image

Tried factory reset and download other versions.

Also on my system is 2.83 LTS and 3.5.1 installed and those work fine.

what should I do?
thanks!

I'm not quite sure I understood the problem. To me you have two things here:

  • Can't select anything in the viewport or the outline
  • To debug python (why?) , the code pasted from the manual is giving you errors.

If you have problems selecting, try disabling NVidia anti-alias setting in the NVidia control panel or upgrade driver.

Thanks Yiming for the quick response!

so for a better explanation: yes, I cannot select anything and when I checked the console, appeared a message in the console about keymaps. So I looked at preferences for the keymaps and saw a problem a user had like 5 years ago - #60288 - and that's why I tried the Python thing.

Tried to paste the Debug thing on the console without success and when I tried to open the scripting menu to test it there, crashed the screen as the image I uploaded in the first post.

maybe something useful for this is that I run Stable Diffusion locally and I don't know if maybe that messed up a Python library that Blender needs to run.. but also in that case 3.5 could be broken too?

(Sorry I thought someone replied here about the keymap issue previously but apparently it's not here any more ?!)

@DomingoBeta You don't need stand-alone python installations for blender to run, it comes with blender internally.

Apparently it's a keymap problem. If factory reset does not solve your problem, you probably need to completely delete your blender configuration folder c:\users\user\appdata\roaming\blender\blender foundation\ .

ok great, so I deleted the complete folder even for older versions? or just only the 3.6 folder inside \blender foundation

@DomingoBeta delete the 3.6 one. Older ones shouldn't have any effect on newer version.

It seems deleting config/script folder has fixed the problem, closing.
