Blender Crashes silently when Joining two Objects together | Closes upon Join of two objects #110318

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 Home, 64x
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER

Blender Version
Broken: 3.3.1
Worked: Unfortunately not sure

How to:
Upon joining two objects together, without any hesitancy (and this happens both with the shortcut and through the menu), blender simply closes. There is no error message or the like.

One of the Objects is copied in from another Project as follows:

  1. .blend file with second object is open. This is the only Object in it.
  2. I select the Object and hit ctrl+c
  3. I save and close this file.
  4. I open the file I want to paste the object into.
  5. I hit ctrl+v, the object is successfully and with no error pasted in. The object has remembered its mesh, position, and material.
  6. I select both the pasted and native Object and join them.
  7. Blender immediately and with no message, load time or notice simply closes.

In the appended .blend file, as I have tested, this will work. There are only two objects in it, and if you attempt to join the two, blender crashes as described.

I hope I can help. I have heard that this also happens when modifiers are applied or transformations or positions are locked on one of the objects, however I have not experienced this error myself and have not attempted to reproduce them, so I cannot speak on that behalf.

Thank you so much for continuing to provide this wonderful and powerful 3D software for free!

Hi, thanks for report. Can you check if this bug still reproduced in 3.6 or 4.0?
