Short description of error
Normals on hair mesh is corrupted in newer versions of blender while being perfect in older ones.
Mesh name is LOD0_1_front_hair_omote597.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open the attached .blend file
  • View the model/mesh in normals/ambient occlusion render pass (cycles)

Hi, thanks for the report. I can confirm the difference in 3.0 and 3.6 but not sure what has affected the object. (Clearing custom normals made no difference)

I created this file in 3.0 at first but then re-made the scene in 3.6

The hair mesh itself is a FBX that i'm importing into blender and it's always corrupted in the new version but not old.

Guess bug is related to cycles rendering. Some change between 3.0 - 3.1 has affected the result
Could it be due to this ray tracing precision?: 74afc86d4b

Hi again, I tested it with another model just to make sure it wasn't an issue with the mesh itself and the result was the same. Don't know if this helps.
