3.6 FBX exporter loses material data on meshes which share linked object data #110967

Short description of error
When exporting scenes to FBX to be used in unity with the FBX exporter from 3.6, materials get dropped from objects if they share mesh data.

It's possible this is a unity issue but I believe the issue happened between 3.5 and 3.6 so more likely to be a blender issue. I can file a unity issue if needed but would be great to have some more details.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Export an fbx from the blend file (or use the one provided)
Open FBX in unity
Notice the secondary triangle object has a different material, it should share the same material as the first

This should be fixed in 3.6.1: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender-addons/commit/dab724af

If you previously exported your .fbx from 3.6.0, re-exporting it with 3.6.1 should resolve the issue.

You are correct,

I download 3.6.1 to test then I must have overwrote the fbx exporter plugin while copying my settings across from the old build.

I just installed a fresh build and it exports correctly
