System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 536.67

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.1, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-07-17 12:50, hash: 8bda729ef4dc

Short description of error
I use an image sequence or Movie as reference, either in 3D viewport or Image Editor. When I edit Frames, Start and Offset, Blender looses these edited parameters on the next reload and I need to set it up again.
Also, everytime I load it, I need to reload it for correct Frames length.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Add Image sequence or Movie either as Reference in 3D viewport or just load it in Image editor
  2. Open Image source panel (N panel in Image editor), you need to reload Frames to get the real length
  3. Adjust the parameters
  4. Reload Blender
  5. You can see the parameters are back to 0 when restarting.

Is this happening in the same Image Editor?
Or are you opening the Movie in another Image Editor?

Blender has this concept of an Image User, so depending on where the same movie is used, different values are possible (and are persistent upon reloading on my side)

Hi,

I am always opening a new Image Editor when I open Blender, I dont load UI from the file.

You are correct, that the settings remain when I load UI from the file.

Thank you for the explanation. Do you think this should be the intended behaviour?
It seems a bit unintuitive and every animator in our company struggles with this issue and considers it a bug.

Well, if you want to be able to use different values in different places (including different Editors) for the same Image/Movie (I do think there are valid usecases for that), then the system of an Image User works here.

However, as you pointed out, this can lead to confusion or other workflow problems such as #109769.

I think this issue is actually similar enough to #109769 that we can close this as a duplicate.
Please subscribe in #109769 if you want further updates.
