System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 531.61

Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.0.0 Alpha, branch: main, commit date: 2023-09-10 22:17, hash: fca8df9415b1
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
"Menu search" searchbox opens with "s" already typed.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open default scene, go to "Edit" -> "Menu search"
Observe searchbox containing single "s"

Also:
Go to geometry node editor, create new node tree
Press Shift+A then S, node search interface has same error.

Press Shift+A then S, node search interface has same error.

Hi, thanks for the report. When popover menu is open, typing any letter now invokes search panel, see: 7f9d51853c

Open default scene, go to "Edit" -> "Menu search"
Observe searchbox containing single "s"

Unable to confirm this.

Yup,
It might be artifact of me reflexively hitting 's' to bring search.
But the behavior is a bit strange. When in geo nodes I add any node using (w/o hitting s) search feature. Then I see this operation already filled in in "Menu search" Don't know if this is intended behavior.
I'm pretty sure there is some (intended or not) data sharing between different search boxes, but now I'm unable to come up with scenario that is obviously buggy.
Feel free to mark this as unconfirmed and close

thanks

Unable to confirm this either. Do you happened to have any input method enabled? (A program when you type stuff and it will pop up selection boxes)

No, nothing of this kind.

Yes, I think now same search menu is invoked from Shift A + any letter or f3 so last searched operation is pre-filled.

I'll close then.
