Invalid driver error #112611

Graphics card: RTX 3060 Ti 8GB

Blender Version
Broken: 3.6.2
Worked: none

I am attempting to set up a Flamenco Blender render server and seem to have everything configured properly. The system is able to render frames usually pretty reliably, but after 50-100 frames it will soft fail a frame, citing "invalid driver" or EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. Canceling and re-queuing the same job will continue to then render the same frame without issue, until another 50-100 frames pass. I started this issue as a Flamenco bug report (studio/flamenco#104258) and was assisted in troubleshooting at least so far that a developer quite confidently identified it as a Blender issue and suggested I open a ticket for it here. Any help will be greatly appreciated of course.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
The most reliable way to reproduce the issue at this point is to run the command outlined by @dr.sybren on the previous ticket.

F:\Blender\blender-3.6.2\blender.exe -b -y F:\jobs/maxwell-watchman-d76m/maxwell-watchman.flamenco.blend --render-output "F:/maxwell-watchman/2023-09-16_143824/######" --render-format PNG --render-frame 264

I've attached the logs from both the failure from Flamenco and from manually entering the command

Can you attach the C:\Users\HEADLE~1\AppData\Local\Temp\maxwell-watchman.flamenco.crash.txt file too?

These issues (the crash and the invalid driver warning/error) may end up being different, but in both cases, we'll need a way to reproduce the problem ourselves. Can you attach a simplified .blend file that reproduces the problem(s)?

Yeah, the crash happens inside the BKE_mesh_calc_loop_tangent_ex/Mikk TSpace code when generating normals/tangents for the mesh. This can occur if the mesh is corrupted somehow, or otherwise, but we'll really need the file containing the geometry to know for sure.

I believe the "invalid driver" is just a Warning that's being printed. It can lead to other problems but probably not the crash. For that we'd also need a file that shows how all the animation drivers have been setup etc. In particular some object has a driver on a UVWarp modifier that might not be working as expected and Blender is warning about it.

If mesh is corrupted, you can verify and fix it with mesh.validate
No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.
