Hi, thanks for the report. On mac system, I suspect GPU Subdivision is OFF: Edit > Preferences > Viewport > Subdivision > GPU Subdivision
With that preference disabled, you will observe the same bug on Windows as well.

Thanks. Do you observe the bug with both OpenGL and Metal backend?

It seems to work well for me. Whether in Blender 3.6 or 4.0.

@HoyaChoe, could you provide the system info? (Blender > Help > Save System Info)
Also please try the latest daily build: https://builder.blender.org/download/

This refers to when activating On cage of subdivision in edit mode, not object mode.
4.1 is same

  1. add subdivision modifier
  2. check On Cage
  3. Uncheck Optimal Display
  4. TAB Edit mode

Using the instructions provided by @HoyaChoe in the comment above (re-explained for full clarity):

  1. Add a object (cube).
  2. Add a subdivision surface modifier to the object.
  3. Enable the On Cage option in the subdivision surface modifier.
  4. Enter edit mode on the object.
  5. Enable and disable the optimal display option and compare the results (taking not of the lack of difference between the two).
  6. Compare against Windows.

I can confirm this issue on my M1 Pro Mac in Blender 3.6.2 and 4.1.0, but can not confirm it on Windows with a RTX 4090.

In most other situations where the optimal display option has a impact, it is fine.
