Hi, thanks for the report. Do you observe the crash with x11? or is it a wayland specific?
Do you've multi-monitors or tablet in setup?
Same in x11 cannot even import anything anymore.

Does it crash during import operation or when floating window is creating?
Could you launch blender with --debug argument, this might generate additional log information

[Linux/ Wayland] Blender crash reportto [Linux/X11/Wayland] Blender crash reportThere looks to be an issue with the GPU failing with a second window
@sailesh-poudel could you check if other operations which use multiple windows also cause problems?
Note that I'm not sure if there is much that can be done to resolve this on Blender's side, unless the problem can be traced back to an error in Blender's code. Especially since this happens with both X11 & Wayland.
@sailesh-poudel ^
Others apps seems to work fine. The problem only seems to be blender.
I tried latest blender 4.0 stable. I can import / open window only in the range of 10-15 times at a time then the window disappear.
The window seems to be shrinking with each ctrl+o shortcut. Then it disappears.
When ctrl +o is pressed we can close the window with Esc. But after certain tries the esc key doesn't work either.
POC video is attached.
Think this report is about crash. For shrinking window, we already have #113059
But blender do crash, when the window stops popping with ctrl + o .

Python backtrace
So crash triggers when pop-up window gets too small?
Have you tried factory settings (in case any add-on is interfering)?:
File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings
@sailesh-poudel could you please address this request.
Expanding a little:
Note that you can access the preferences via a space-type selector if you can't create a new window.
@PratikPB2123
Loading the factory setting does nothing. The problem remains the same.
@ideasman42
Opening the preferences window doesn't shrink or crash.
Also ,after changing to "Maximized area" the problem doesn't occur.
The problem only occurs while using the New window from Tempporary Editors.
@sailesh-poudel it seems like a driver bug, however this is a fairly recent GPU from Intel (released 2020), so it should work.
Questions:
env LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 blender
Since 3.6.4 worked & opening the preferences window works, it looks like this might be something we could resolve, although it still seems likely to be a bug in the driver.
Further steps:
Unless your able to build Blender to find when this problem was introduced, I think a developer would have to reproduce the error to investigate this further.
@ideasman42
I have two GPU and integrated and descrete, Intel and nvidia gtx 1660ti.
I am on arch linux with kde, and system is uptodate.
While using LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 blender in terminal, blender crashes with
EGL Error (0x3009): EGL_BAD_MATCH: Arguments are inconsistent (for example, a valid context requires buffers not supplied by a valid surface).
