Multiple keymap-related bugs. #114025

Blender Version
Broken: 4.1 (current)
Worked: 4.1 from some weeks ago

Short description of error

Blender doesn't save keymap changes and ignores user's key-binding choices. Besides that, Blender 'reads' default and user-defined keymap settings at the same time.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
There is no easy way to reproduce it because it happens only when you import setting from the previous version of Blender and change 'default' key for some addons (like F2 etc.).

I attached a screenshot of what it looks like. You can see that the same command is being enabled and disabled and having multiple different keys assigned to it at the same time. And on top of that some commands have been 'multiplied' by Blender.

Example: If I disable 'Cable Raycast' (the first one), save preferences and reboot Blender then 'Cable Raycast' will be active again. If I change the key for the 'Cable Raycast', save preferences and reboot Blender then it will ignore my choice and have the original 'C' key assigned again. Same happens with other addons like F2 etc..

I found a temporary workaround: Going to preferences and reloading your saved keymap preset after each start.

This is nice catch: After loading Blender 4.0 in preferences reselect your keyconfig preset and use Revert to Saved Preferences

@PratikPB2123 I tried replicating that bug, but in my case the number of entries didn't change.

PS. Here is an interesting finding. I compared keymap in 3.6.0, 4.0 Beta and 4.1 Alpha. Looks like the bug with keymap entries multiplication started with version 4.0 (at least in my case). Here is a screenshot:

Try new 4.0.0 beta. It fixed for me (after transfer config from 3.6 to 4.0 through blender popup on startup)
