System Information
Operating system: macOS-10.15.7-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Metal API AMD Radeon Pro 560X 1.2
Also tested with same result on
Operating system: Windows 11 pro.
Graphics card: Nvidia 3080 RTX

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.5, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-10-16 14:30, hash: cf1e1ed46b7e
Worked: Blender 3.3.7 worked. All newer version then 3.6 don't work.

Short description of error
Any second UV maps created before 3.6.x Version will crash Blender 3.6 - 4.1 immediately when doing uv editing or eventually even when just selecting the uv channel in the object UV Map. Affects all imported mesh from other formats.
PS: UV maps creates its 3.6 newly may work.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open attached blend file.
Select the only object in the scene.
Tab to go into Edit mode.
Choose the second uv map for display in uv editor (called 'Texture_print)
Here Blender crashes immediately.

Note: I couldn't reproduce it with that file on Windows and MacOS Samona (using Silicon).
So it seem to be limited on MacOS with Intel/AMD combination
Anyhow I had a reproduce-able file on windows last time. I will try to find that sample and add it.

ok after further testing I found that its related to a setting where draw style was set to 'Metal' by default. Setting it to OpenCl fixed the crash.
Go try preferences, system, GPU Backend. This is set to 'Metal' by default. The settings is not in 3.3 just since 3.6.
Its not really logical as the Metal was not set above under Render Devices. A bit confusing and not easy to find.
You can change that bug to:

GPU Backend should be set to OpenCL on Intel Macs. Default is set to Metal, which can crash Blender.

One more. In Blender 4.1 alpha the option has been removed. So you can't set Blender GPU backend to OpenCL, render it impossible to avoid that crash.

Hi, thanks for the report. Might be related to #112190
Please share crash logs: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/crash.html#macos

you can't set Blender GPU backend to OpenCL

Yes, OpenGL support has been removed from Mac in 4.0. Some newer features required OpenGL 4.3, I guess Mac support is limited to OpenGL 3.3: cdb8a8929c
