VSE: Resizing cut meta-strip produces unexpected behavior #114254

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 537.58

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.6.0, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-06-27 08:08, hash: c7fc78b81ecb
Worked: never used meta-strips before, so I'm not sure if this ever worked properly.

Short description of error
Resizing a split or duplicated meta-strip from the right side it reveals more of the contained sequence as expected, however when resizing from the left side it freeze-frames the previous last frame. Strangest part is that it does reveal more audio, but not video. There doesn't appear to be a way in the UI to get the strip to "expand backwards," to reveal more of the internal sequence.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Create meta-strip that contains some clips (must be moving images for bug to be visible) and some audio.
  2. Cut the meta-strip into two pieces
  3. Move the right-handed strip to the right to create a gap between the clips
  4. Drag the left handle of the right clip to the left.
  5. Notice how doing so reveals more audio, but does not reveal more video, which stays frozen on the previous first frame of the clip.

Cut the meta-strip into two pieces

I assume this is doing a Hold Split (Shift K)? As opposed to just a "regular" Split?

(btw.: I can confirm a Hold Split does not really hold audio [just video], but to get the report going we first have to clarify on the above)

#114252 is probably related (at least the "holding does not hold audio" issue seems to have broken around the same time)

Yes, it is using "hold split." I'll be honest, I wasn't aware there was a difference.

With that said, and sort of unrelated, is there any way to disable the "hold," on a clip? One of the things that made it frustrating in the first place was that there didn't seem to be a way to disable it, even though "inside," the meta clip the non-visible clips were still there.
