Operator bpy.ops.object.simulation_nodes_cache_bake crashes (backport request, fine in main) #114264
Operating system: Linux-6.4.6-76060406-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.35 64 Bits, X11 UI
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 535.113.01
Broken: version: 3.6.5, branch: blender-v3.6-release, commit date: 2023-10-16 14:30, hash:
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
Blender crashes when you call bpy.ops.object.simulation_nodes_cache_bake from the console (or script) if there is no path previously assigned.
While pressing the bake button in the UI, Blender will verify and make sure to generate a default path and create de folders before it can start writhing in disc.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Simply set any simulation nodes zone and try calling the operator from the console. (make sure the path is clear before you call the bake operator).
I can confirm the crash in 3.6.5.
4.0 and 4.1 seem to be fine though.
Will have to check on the fixing commit and see if this can be backported to 3.6 LTS.
