Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.0.0 Beta, branch: blender-v4.0-release, commit date: 2023-10-30 23:38, hash:
b27ff093caa0
Worked: 3.6
Short description of error
Ior level in principled BSDF shader doesnt work correctly, when surface is metallic. It is expected, that metallic surface with 0 ior level would be similar as simple Glossy BSDF, but now metallic surface has permanent additional specular reflections.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create surface with principled bsdf shader, set metallic = 1 and tweak Ior level parameter. Then compare with tweaking specular level in 3.6
Hi, thanks for the report. No difference for me in the reflections between 3.6 and 4.0 after tweaking the ior level/specular value (when metallic=1)
Maybe share blend file?
file attached, but i used completely default scene.
Excuse me for my english, but i recorded more detailed video to show the problem)
Yes actually, can confirm the difference (I had white as base color earlier)
@lichtwerk , can you check? (and help in bisecting)
Results changed between
7c57eb42d7a7 - 30de3d7c1a79
Will do in a bit
This changed with
b45dd4cfac
For Cycles, this already changed earlier (havent tracked down which of the changes from #99447 this actually came with).
So I assume this is intended behavior, to be 100% sure this should be double-checked with either @LukasStockner or @fclem ?
Strongly hope, that is not intended behavioir, becousr it cause loss of funcionality. I was able to setup metallic and specular separately before, and now i cant. So metallic surface has additional specular highlight constantly
