Short description of error
Blender crashes with nested repeat zones combined with fields and some other nodes.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open crash_repeat_zone.blend
  • Unmute "Transform Geometry"

Boom!

Notice that if you remove the Index node the problem goes away. It seems related to fields.

The Join Geometry node can be replaced by Geometry to Instance, Join Geometry and probably any other node that inputs and outputs a geometry.
