User Interface unresponsive with High Poly scenes #114835

Short description of error
I am not sure if this is caused by the same issue as #98574 so I am reporting it just in case:

When having complex scene, Blender's UI often becomes unresponsive and certain UI actions are unreliable. The prime example being attempting to rename UVMap channel by double clicking it. What I suspect happens is that:

  1. The initial click of the double click action calls change of Active UVMap channel
  2. UV channel activation is undoable change, so the undo stack is pushed
  3. The entire high poly mesh is copied in the memory causing UI freeze
  4. The freeze is long enough to prevent second mouse click to register and therefore UI catching it as double-click event
  5. This makes the rename operation which should be activated by double-click to not occur.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Download the attached file: Monkey_Highpoly.blend
  2. Select the monkey and run the "Visual Geometry to Mesh" operator in the Apply menu
  3. In the UVMaps rollout of the Mesh tab of the Properties editor, double-click the UVMap channel in attempt to rename it:
    Result: The rename action won't happen reliably, and requires at least quadruple-click to run
    Expected: The UI actions happen reliably regardless of scene/mesh complexity

Re-opening as the issue remains on WIN32.
Other supported platforms now use event time-stamps so double-click is properly detected.

Put up !115831 now which should fix this on another level (avoiding RNA set/update).

However, since this is still the same as #40009, will close again as duplicate

@ideasman42 Your X11 change breaks with an assert on my computer with uptime of 52 days, because m_start_time_monotonic has just exceeded the 32-bit range, but the time in the event is clearly clamped to 32 bits, despite the field in the structure apparently being 8 bytes.
