System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 546.17

Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.0.1, branch: blender-v4.0-release, commit date: 2023-11-16 16:40, hash: d0dd92834a08
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
I have selected the CYCLES engine to render an image but the output is being rendered in EEVEE instead or blank.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I don't know. It happened recently after I was done rendering image sequence in EEVEE and then I converted it into MP4. After that, I switched to CYCLES engine to render image sequence of an animatiion, the images were all blank. So, I tried to render one image instead of the animation and it kept resulting in EEVEE render result and now it only results in blank image. Even If I switch back to EEVEE engine, the render is not working at all, it's just showing blank result.

Can you share a .blend file where this bug can be reproduced?
You can try taking the file you're working with and removing all objects from it, add a simple mesh + light + camera, and see if the problem still happens.

Yup, it still happens. Here's the blend file:-

Since the Video Editor has a strip in the .blend file, it will be used to render instead of the 3D View. See https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/4.1/render/output/properties/post_processing.html?utm_source=blender-4.1.0-alpha#bpy-types-rendersettings-use-sequencer

Sequencer
Renders the output of the Video Sequence editor, instead of the view from the 3D scene’s active camera. If the sequence contains Scene strips, these will also be rendered as part of the pipeline. If Compositing is also enabled, the Scene strip will be the output of the Compositor.

Disable the Post Processing Sequencer or delete the strip.
Although it is indeed confusing, this is not considered a bug :\

That fixed it. Thanks!

I was also wondering, is there any way to see the total render time when rendering an image sequence animation?
