Frame Attribute doesn't update per frame in Cycles/Eevee Next #115489

Short description of error
The frame_current view layer attribute does not update per frame in animation playback in Cycles, but works as expected in Eevee (Legacy).
In Eevee Next it only updates as expected when the viewport camera is being moved.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Have a material with the frame_current view layer attribute as the output. Compare animation playback between Cycles/Eevee Next and Eevee (Legacy).

Hi, thanks for the report. For cycles, we already have a separate report: #103140
re EEVEE-next: I'm not able to confirm it, could you check again in recent 4.1 build: https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/

Hello, apologies for the duplicate. I did not see that year-old report. The Eevee-next issue seems to have been fixed in the past two weeks, as it is working in today's 4.1 build. The Cycles version of the bug is still present.

(Update) The error also occurs in both Eevee and Cycles when a driver has that same attribute.

Yes, when you play the animation in the viewport, the driver will not update until you hit play again. This occurs in both the shader and geometry node editors.

Thanks. That's bug related to driver not sending depsgraph update to viewport and other editors. I'll open a new report for it.
If you change driver type context property to single property and select the "scene" there, it'll correctly send updates)
