Operating system: Linux Nobara 38 (spin of fedora 38)
Graphics card: nvidia mobile GTX 4050

Blender Version
Broken: 4.03 11/12/2023
Worked: unable to get working on 3.6 upward

Short description of error
Mantaflow unable to generate smoke using domain guide of previously baked fluid bake

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
create inflow, create domain, set basic fluid parameters and set to modular with a separate folder to bake, bake data
create inflow at same position for smoke, create domain, set paramers, add guide and set to domain (fluid domain), set another folder for smoke and bake, smoke does not appear at all. smoke inflow & domain set to GAS of course,
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

Hi, thanks for the report. I can confirm. Smoke seems invisible due to overlapping domains.
One way to workaround it: bake fluid mesh for liquid domain. Can you confirm whether it prevents the problem at your end?

Hi Pratik, thanks for getting back to me, i do appreciate it and everyone there.

Unfortunately it's not just hiding it, the error shown fails to be able to select the the domain liquid baked as a guide. i've tried this from v3 LTS as well.

I was looking at an old Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldUwslQJ9NQ&t=605s (0m:51s to 5m:25s)
to test if Blender 4.03 would work, but now i have tried it on v3.3 LTS -> v4.03 and the above does not work, giving the error in the terminal of

this happens with all versions listed with guides, the only way i was able to get even close was to export alembic, re-import and assign it as the inflow, which looked nowhere near the above youtube.
