System Information
Operating system: Windows 11 Pro
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

Blender Version
Broken: Blender 3.0 - Blender 4.0

Short description of error
Creating multiple scenes and assigning Eevee and Cycles renderers to each respectively. The active working scene is set to Eevee while configuring the Compositor to utilize render layers from the Cycles scene. Upon executing several rendering attempts in this setup, numerous errors start displaying in the console. It appears that the frequency of errors increases when GUI updates occur, such as moving the mouse cursor during rendering.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open the default startup file.
  2. Duplicate the scene.
  3. Change the renderer of the duplicated scene to Cycles.
  4. Return to the original scene being worked on.
  5. Enable the Compositor nodes and switch the render layer's scene to the Cycles scene.
  6. Render multiple times by pressing the F12 key.

I have attached a video demonstrating the occurrence of errors. Some parts may be garbled due to the Japanese OS, but it appears there are the following types of error messages displayed.

  • Win32 Error# (170)
  • display_driver.cpp:815] Error creating GPU context.
  • path_trace_display.cpp:62] PathTraceDisplay implementation could not begin update.
  • path_trace.cpp:654] Error beginning GPUDisplay update.

Thanks for the report. Can confirm. I thought this could be due to threading. But -t 1 still made no difference
