"Apply visual transform to pose" keeps changing pose bone transformation values when bone has a Copy Location bone constraint. #117263

Blender Version
Broken: 4.0.2 and 3.6

When Pose bone has a copy location bone constraint whose setting is

Head/Trail value is greater than 0
offset on
Target Local Space
Owner Local Space

Doing "Apply visual transform to pose" on this pose bone causes glitch. It keeps adding transformation value which comes from location difference between Target bone and Owner bones.
I added blend file. Just do "Apply visual transform to pose" on Bone.001 multiple times, then you will see its Location Y keeps increasing. This behavior can't be called "Apply visual transform to pose".

According to the manual:

Visual Transform to Pose
Applies the position of the bone after Constraints; allowing the constraints to be deleted and the bones will remain in their constrained positions.

When deleting the constraint afterwards, the bone goes to the expected position (which it was before).
So it seems to be working accordingly.
It might be a little strange in this case, but it seems expected.

I don't think it's a bug.

On second analysis, this can happen with any constraint that depends on the original position of the object to perform some type of offset.

"Fixing" this would mean adding changes that go beyond a bug fix such as:

  • Disable/remove constraints or
  • Clear offset values in constraints or
  • Ignore offset values when applying transformation

So this involves more a new feature implementation than a bug fixing.
And the current behavior may even be expected.

So not a bug AFAICS, closing.
