Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 536.23
Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.1.0 Alpha, branch: main, commit date: 2024-01-18 00:01, hash:
d068407a004c
Worked: Doesn't affect Eevee legacy, though the blended/dithered options are a bit different there.
Short description of error
In the shader editor, the attribute node with the attribute 'position' and set to type 'Instancer' will output a pink color no matter the position of the instances but only when set to 'Blended' in the render method of the material. When set to 'Dithered' it seems to work as expected.
In the console we can see the error:
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
The result is a consistent pink color rather than the black and white which would be expected due to the positions of the instances
Instancer attribute not working when shader is set to blendedto EEVEE Next: Materials with the 'Blended' Render Method do not access instancer attributes (and display an error in the console)Thank you for the report. I can confirm the issue. This appears to be related to:
#106563: Viewport Shading 'Attribute' Option Broken for Instanced Geometry
Thanks for the info, have subscribed!
I forgot to mention or make it explicit but I think you are already aware but figured i'd underscore it here that the issue is fine everywhere in 4.1 that I can think of to check i.e. Cycles and Eevee legacy render modes, only the new Eevee rendered mode seems to have the issue. :)
