System Information
Operating system: Fedora Linux (Wayland Gnome 45.3)
Graphics card: AMD

Blender Version
Broken: 4.0.2
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Graphical artifact in the viewport gizmo. This happens in the viewport navigation gizmo and in things like the extrusion gizmo.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Increase resolution scale to 3 or maybe 4 to make the gizmo bigger

Hi, thanks for the report. Maybe gpu driver bug. Can you attach system info: Help > Save system Info
Also check if this happens after blender is launched from command line with --debug-gpu-force-workarounds argument.

Of course. Here is the system info.
It also happens with the forced workarounds argument.

This is probably unrelated (but maybe AMD driver related), but the Cycles issue on Fedora Linux with AMD is a known issue, right? It seem to only use the GPU for rendering with what seems like a hacky workaround:

Can you confirm this bug on previous blender versions? Something to fix on GPU driver side I guess.
Also check if downgrading mesa drivers still causes this.

Re: Cycles not detecting GPU: Check rocm version. Similar problem has been observed on newer linux kernel and with open source drivers

I checked and the small "fan out" lines show up in Blender down to version 3.4.0, but not in 3.3.1. The small gaps in the lines also show up in 3.3.1 and 3.3.0, so they might be unrelated. The small gaps go away when increasing the gizmo size. Here are images of 3.3.0.

Unfortunately I'm not sure how to downgrade Mesa drivers, but I will update this post should updating Mesa drivers fix it.

Hi, have you checked with different mesa drivers?

Haven't seen any similar report so less likely a bug in blender. You can check console if it has reported any opengl error: Window > Toggle System Console

I have been updating Mesa since I opened this issue and this bug has been visible in every Mesa version so far.

I checked 23.3.6 and 24.0.5 specifically and it happens in both.

You can check console if it has reported any opengl error: Window > Toggle System Console

I don't seem to have this option?

However, opening Blender with --debug-gpu just prints the following lines, and no errors:

INFO (gpu.debug): Notification : Successfully hooked OpenGL debug callback using OpenGL 4.3
INFO (gpu.debug): Notification : Successfully hooked OpenGL debug callback using OpenGL 4.3
