Short description of error
Delete Strip & Data: actually deletes the strip and the references scene.
Update Scene Frame Range: actually updates the "Hold" ranges of the strip.
Misleading names and tooltips. The "data" wording is very unclear, and might lead users to think that a selection with ex. Movie or Image strips, and selecting this operator will delete the source files too.
If the operator only becomes visible when a Scene strip is the active strip, and it is the referencing scene which is deleted, then this should be made clear in the operator naming and tool tip.
Update Scene Frame Range: actually updates the "Hold" ranges of the strip.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Select a Scene strip and see the operator name and tooltip in the Strip menu:
Delete Strip and Datato "Delete Strip and Data" is misleadingHi, thanks for the report. Looks like this deletes the scene linked with the "scene strip": https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/src/branch/main/source/blender/editors/space_sequencer/sequencer_edit.cc#L1660
What name you would prefer?:
Delete strip and scene data
I wrote about it in the VSE chat. Maybe it is better to discuss these things there?
I see, Sergey suggested "data-block".

Chat messages are cleared after some days (also things gets easily lost in chat) so best to have some opinions in this thread 🙂
I wrote something above Sergey's reply.
The Delete strip and data and the following operator Update Scene Frame Range, should at least be placed inside a Scene Strip submenu(like Move Strip submenu).
Imo, would it be better to as specific as possible with the name and tooltip(most user will not know what a data-block is). Maybe something along these lines?
Scene Strip
Delete (include Scene)
Tooltip: Delete strip and referenced scene.
Refresh Hold Duration
Tooltip: Refresh strip hold duration according to range of referenced scene.
Even better would be to include the Update Scene Frame Range in the Refresh All operator and remove it from the Strip menu. Or making it fully automated, so when a scene range is changed the hold durations of strips referencing those scenes are updated too. Users should not have to manually update these things.
The (include X) syntax is already used in the Select > Box (include Handles).
Alternative solution, by placing these operators in their right context, they can be implemented in a much more understandable way:
Delete Strip and Data:
(Should be rewritten, so it only deletes data aka. scene)
Refresh Hold Duration:
"Delete Strip and Data" is misleadingto "Delete Strip and Data" and "Update Scene Frame Range" are misleading
