Short description of error
Fingers not importing in this FBX. Works in Maya so I know they are there. Works if I export the same file from Maya. Doesn't work either with Better FBX addon.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Import attached file
There does not appear to be any fingers in the attached .fbx.
From converting the .fbx to a human readable .json with the fbx2json script, the only bones present are:
Based on the information provided by @Mysteryem, it seems that the fingers are not present in the attached .fbx file. The bones listed in the file do not include the fingers.
@Funnybob, could you double-check if the .fbx file indeed works correctly in Maya? Please ensure that it is the same file and there are no external dependencies that could be influencing the result.
Ah! I figured out what happened. The mocap system exported my files in ASCII, which is not supported by Blender. So I opened another file in Maya that did have fingers in it, for conversion. Then I drag and dropped the file I just sent you. In Maya, when you import an FBX, by default it will not replace what was already there but update it. So it removed the previous animation and replaced it with the new ones, but ignored the fingers that were already there. So I ended up with the s=bones from the previous file and the animation from the new one. I could tell by the length of the animation of the body and the fingers. So, my bad. Sorry. Case closed.
