Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
Fresh install of popos (2 days ago).
When a subdivisio modifier is enabled blender crashes with error:
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Just noticed that ther problem is the nvidia card not being enabled.
Reads only the integrated gpu.
Strange, as i enabled the nvidia in the panel
Thank you for reporting this issue, @DShot92.
The GPU used by Cycles for rendering is not necessarily the same GPU used for drawing most things in Blender, (such as EEVEE, Workbench, UI...). Blender typically uses the primary GPU set in your operating system's settings for drawing.
Based on the error you provided, it seems that there is a syntax error in the subdivision patch evaluation compute shader. This indicate an issue with the graphics driver or compatibility with Blender. Here are a few steps you can try to address the issue:
Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed for the Intel HD Graphics 630. You can usually download the drivers from the manufacturer's website or through your operating system's update mechanism.
Test Blender with a different version or build. You mentioned that you are using Blender 4.2.0 Alpha. It might be worth trying a stable release or a different build to see if the issue persists.
(Poking @fclem and @Jeroen-Bakker due the shader compilation error message)
@mano-wii I committed a fix a few hours ago

Thanks, glad to know, closing then.
@DShot92, please try the next daily build when available: https://builder.blender.org/download/
