Operating system: Windows 11
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

Blender Version
4.0

Short description of error
Checking any sub-catalog in the Asset Shelf creates tabs in the Asset Shelf for these sub-catalogs. But when you close the .blend file and reopen it, the tabs for the sub-catalogs in the Asset Shelf are gone.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open the Asset Browser and set it to Current File
  2. Use the + button to create sub-catalogs
  3. Open the Asset Shelf
  4. Open the hamburger menu of the Asset Shelf and check all the sub-catalogs.
  5. Notice tabs appear in the Asset Shelf for the sub-catalogs.
  6. Save and close the .blend file
  7. Restart the .blend file and open the Asset Shelf.
  8. Notice the tabs for the sub-catalogs in the Asset Shelf are gone. You have to check them again.

Unable to reproduce through 4.0 stable 9be62e85b7 to 4.2 latest. When the file opens, all the tabs are still present. Could you give us a test file where you found the problem is still reproducible?

Thank you for taking the time to confirm the bug. I've attached a .blend file where I can reproduce the issue + a video showing the step I take.

@joris, in the video shown, you enabled the catalogs, but you did not save the .blend file.
Therefore, when reopening, the fact that the enabled catalogs do not reappear seems expected, no? (they were like this since the last time you saved)

Did I misunderstand the issue?

One thing I noticed however, is that when toggling these catalogs, the * that indicates that the .blend file has modifications and needs to be saved does not appear.
Could this be intentional?

@mano-wii You're right, during the recording of the video I forgot to save. But as you can see in this new attached video, I do save and the issue persists.

I still could not reproduce the issue. But from your latest video, we can see that the asset shelf is collapsed after you reopen the file, and on my tests none of the 4.x versions does that (They always stay open when file is saved in the open state), could this possibly be an addon issue? (I doubt)

I don't understand what you mean with an 'addon issue'. The rig I'm using is an Auto-Rig Pro rig, if that's what you're referring to.
