System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.6.0 NVIDIA 546.17

Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.2.0 Alpha, branch: main, commit date: 2024-03-25 13:58, hash: 6b5a97170c4c
Worked: -

Short description of error
The mesh loop cut (Ctrl+R) tool does not display its preview line correctly if the mesh has a Mask modifier on it.

For example, a cube with a mask modifier on it:

Four verts masked Two verts masked side view Two verts masked top view
Four vertices.png Two vertices side.png Two vertices top.png

I don't know whether it would be considered a separate bug or related - I'm happy to report it separately - but if you start sliding an edge (which is part of an existing loop that goes around the cube), the yellow 'edge marker' (which shows you which half of an edge you're sliding on) appears on the edge that is in front, even if that edge is hidden by the Mask modifier.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Using the attached file:

  1. Enter edit mode on the cube.
  2. Press Ctrl+R and hover over any of the visible edges of the cube.

Can confirm, this effect only shows when "On Cage" option is enabled on the modifier.

This probably never worked.
